"Presumed Incompetent" was created during our annual summer film program, in which our students — both novice and professional actors — collaborate with a professional crew to create a film and gain experience both in front of the camera and in crew apprentice roles. Bravo to the 37 actors who made this movie magic with us!

Synopsis: Chance, a nonspeaking autistic teen, has spent 15 years trapped inside his mind, unable to communicate. His apraxia scatters the messages going from his brain to his body, so his erratic movements fail to give accurate cues of what he wants or feels. Chance is part of a big, boisterous family, yet he is painfully alone. The "experts" say Chance is profoundly cognitively impaired. But then his parents discover a new means of communication—a spelling method—that upends all of the assumptions about their brilliant teen. Now if only Chance's peers and teachers will believe in him.
INSPIRED BY AND STARRING WYNSTON BROWNE.
